Summertime in the City with Kate Spade

post featured image

School is out, temps are rising, and while it is not quite summer, my mind is wandering to vacations and sun. I tend to think of summer as a season long vacation -it is the kid in me still enjoying summer break! I’m so excited to be partnering with Kate Spade New York on their summer campaign sharing what my version of “Vacation is a state of mind” along with some of my favorites from their Summer collection.

Summer escapes don’t have to involve a trip seaside. They can be as simple as planning a night out together! Enjoying the amazing weather with a drink in hand and a great menu to choose from can give you that vacation state of mind. One of our favorite things to do is plan nights out together – both date nights and staycations. Last weekend Michael surprised and took me to a total cool spot called the West Bottoms. This is an area that you would never associate with nice dining and wine tasting! Think of lots of exposed bricks, old loading docs, and train tracks. My mind was swept away to New York and sitting riverside enjoying a night out.

Another fun mini-trip we started doing was taking a staycation here in Kansas City. We love to get a nice hotel room downtown and going to a show. Downtown is quite the jaunt for us and we don’t go often, so when we do, we definitely take advantage of our time together and try to go to some local spots we have been wanting to try. Since it is an area we rarely adventure to, my mind is again swept away to a city and vacation state of mind.

I usually always stick to my neutral color palettes, but in the spirit of summer and fun, I decided to mix things up and paired two unexpected prints together. In my opinion, Kate Spade has some of the most amazing prints, so you really can’t mess up when mixing patterns.

This gingham top by Kate Spade is quintessential summer. Not only is it very flattering, but also a classic style and one you will wear over and over. I am obsessed with this floral jacket also by Kate Spade – it is so feminine and sophisticated.

It also is so versatile! I plan on wearing it all summer long -over jeans, shorts, or a dress…the options are endless.  And how adorable are these bow-tie shorts?!  Pair them with these Kate Spade classic loafers and you can’t go wrong!

Another way I styled the gingham top was with these white slacks. White slacks are great for making your legs look longer than the really are. They are a closet staple and perfect for summer. They make for such a classy outfit and this look was Michael’s favorite!
I had so much fun showcasing Kate Spade’s new summer collection. I loved that I was able to bring out a more girly side  for a change and I plan on wearing these outfits on our summer vacations – both near and far!
