** See updated recipe here.

We all know stars love their juice diets, and who can blame them? They have amazing health benefits, and they also help them stay in great shape. With New Year’s resolution goals in full swing and many of us setting goals to be more healthy, I thought it would be a perfect time to share one of my favorite slimming and detoxing smoothie recipes. This recipe is Victoria Secret model Alexandra Ambrosia’s favorite juice recipe. If this gorgeous mother of two is drinking these and looks like she does, well then sign me up!

Another reason why I love this drink so much is the major health benefits.
-gives you more energy
-mental clarity
-crave less junk
-less snacking
-filling (I am so full after having one)
-improves skin
-improves your immunity
My challenge to you is to try this amazing smoothie in the next week and let me know what you think. Trust me you will love it! It really is tasty. Even my husband loves it. I like to incorporate one a day; either as a morning or afternoon snack. Here is what you will need to make.
2 servings Recipe-make one and save one for later, they keep well for one day.
1-very unripe banana
1-one large pear and or green apple
1 cup of spinach
1 cup of romaine lettuce or I prefer KALE
Juice of 2 lemons
1-cup of celery
Organic honey or I prefer Truvia (natural sweetener) to sweeten
1 cup of very cold water
 Add to blender.
Blend together on high. I love the Ninja Blender.
Maison jars make the perfect to go cup. Add the lid and you can take your smoothie to work, gym or on the go wherever you’re headed. Your body will thank you!

  1. I’ve been looking for a healthy smoothie with regular ingredients. Made this today as is (but only one lemon). It was so good. Can’t wait to make it again tomorrow.

  2. I only have a small Ninja Magic Bullet blender. Can you recommend the amounts of ingredients for that? Thanks! Deana

  3. Well let me just start out by saying this recipe looks delish and i will be making tomorrow morning…The web can be a hostile place as it is. I see sooooo much negativity and just want to urge people to realize that life is short….choose to be amazing and be a blessing not a burden. Best wishes.

  4. Has anyone calculated the calories in this? I came up with 355-400 depending on how much honey you use…

  6. Just found your recipe on Pinterest and am trying all kinds of healthy smoothies lately. This one looks great. Thank you very much!

  7. Has anyone tried this and lost weight??? I'm trying to lose 10 pounds!!!! Does anyone have any more good weight lose juicing recipes???

  8. Thank you for the inspiration! I just made my version of it which included some substitutions based on what I had (and didn't have) in the fridge and freezer. Added a small slice of ginger, a generous dash of cinnamon, agave instead of honey and a persimmon instead of pears. Thank you. The color is beautiful and the taste is zesty. And the future seems just a little brighter. Thanks again.

  9. Seriously friends. Get a life. Never seen such cranky pants people in my life replying to a simple recipe. If you don't like it, move along.

  10. First of all, this is a smoothie recipe, people. There is no reason to leave such rude responses and treat the author and other commenters like idiots. Have some class.

Second, I would just like to know what the texture is like on this recipe. It appears to be kind of chunky in the pictures, and I have a high gag reflex to things like that. Thanks!

    • Heather,
Yes, I ate other food. I've had 4 heart attacks, and eat a fair amount of vegetables and fruit. I do try to walk and do minor exercises. I try to stay busy. However, there are benefits to eating regular food, your digestive tract needs to exercise itself on a daily basis. As long as everything is done in moderation, but must not stop.

    • I USE A NUTRI-NINJA, AND HAVE USED THIS PARTICULAR RECIPE SEVEN TIMES IN THE PAST 12 DAYS. I JUST CAME BACK FROM MY CARDIOLOGIST AND LOST 3 1/2 POUNDS. TO ME THAT'S GOOD NEWS SINCE I WAS LAST WEIGHED IN BY MY FAMILY DOCTOR 3 WEEKS AGO. I PERSONALLY RECOMMEND THIS SMOOTHIE, BUT KEEP IN MIND, EVERYONE'S METABOLISM IS DIFFERENT. HOWEVER, 3 1/2 POUNDS LOST BY DOING NOTHING BUT DRINKING THIS SMOOTHIE IS GREAT.

AS FAR AS TEXTURE, IT'S SMOOTH, NOT CHUNKY. BLEND IT THOROUGHLY, AND ADD YOUR FAVORITE FRUIT IF BANANA DOES'NT AGREE WITH YOUR TASTE BUDS. I RATHER LIKE IT JUST THE WAY IT IS.

      GOOD LUCK, EVERYONE!

    • My sentiments exactly!!! Hate it when people are so rude. I used my nutribullett and makes ingredient so smooth, no chunks. It is delicious!! So glad I fount this…healthy and delicious. Who could ask for more.

  11. Someone here asked about why a green banana is relevant. I think it has to do with the sugar and starch content of a yellow banana. Green bananas have less sugar and the starch is a resistant starch. Resistant starches don't get absorbed into the body and therefore can't turn into sugar. Google resistant starches. HTH

  12. How long should you drink this to see results? With healthy eating. I'm not trying to lose weight (Im actually underweight,) I want to clean my liver and body of unnecessary body fat and gain weight in muscle!

  13. Also, how much does this make? I am curious if it will all fit in my nutri ninja 24 oz or if I will have to half the recipe and make two separate ones.

  14. Do you absolutely HAVE to use pear or green apple? Are they more detoxing than other varieties? I just currently have two dozen honeycrisp apples that I want used up.

  15. Yeah I know that green smoothies are always beneficial for a good health. I also take Green drink in the morning. I make these health drinks own my own. And I always search for new recipes so that I never got bored from the same taste. Well dear thanks a lot for sharing another yummy recipe!!

  16. Sorry but this was not very good. I don't think I'm the veggie/fruit smoothie kind of gal. I didn't care for the celery taste. Maybe skip the celery.

  17. Love it! I try a lot of smoothies because they are healthy and yummi. A specially as a model u need a lot of energie and mostly a quick breakfast or lunch. Smoothies are the best for that. You can follow me on Istagram for more receipts and impressions from me @franziskadittmann

  18. Hi…
I just came across this recipe, which looks great! I'm curious… what is the reason for the very un-ripe banana? I'm thrown off by the thought of it!

    • FRUITS PRODUCE A NATURAL SUGAR AS THEY RIPEN. BANANA'S HAVING ONE OF THE HIGHEST SUGAR CONTENTS. SO THAT SUGGESTED UNRIPE FRUIT IS MOST LIKELY TO CUT THE SUGAR BUT KEEP THE OTHER BENEFITS. ON THE CONTRARY, THIS IS WHY YOU USE BROWNED BANANA'S FOR BANANA BREAD (NOT JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE MOOSHY)

    • The riper the banana, the more nutritious it is. I have no idea why anyone would want an unripen banana….

    • Truvia is not a good sweetening alternative! Very processed with added chemicals and bad for you! Don't ruin this smoothie with such an unhealthy item! Use raw organic honey instead.

  19. Took advantage of cold temperatures last week – bought organic bananas and spinach in bulk… Sliced the bananas and set everything on cookie sheets outside to freeze. Great way to make individual portions for your smoothies! Just whipped up this one (used a pear, added kale and sweetened with raw local honey) HOLY DELICIOUS, Batman! Thanks for sharing this recipe 🙂

  20. Thank you for sharing this! I started with this smoothie and now I'm a green smoothie nut. I drink one daily. I do switch out the fruits for variety. But honestly, your post has made me a green smoothie believer!

    • Have you lost weight drinking this smoothie? This is my goal to drink this for weight loss. Thanks in advance.

  21. Does it have to be freshly squeezed lemon or can I substitute lemon juice from a bottle?

  22. I think what you're seeing in the blender is the pear or green apple. It looks like lemon, but the recipe says to add only the juice of the lemon, not the fruit. I'm not a banana fan, so I'm hoping the celery cuts the banana flavor. Bon Appetit!

  23. Oh I am going to have to try this as doing a 24 day Advocare deal so this is perfect Do you put the whole lemon in the juice as well? Almost looks that way in the blender picture.

    • Idk why people are making such a big deal about the lemon question. A simple "no, those are pears not lemons" would suffice. I had to look closer at the picture because the skin of the pears used here closely resemble a lemon as far as coloring when cut up. Yes the recipe clearly states to use lemon juice, however there's nothing wrong with confirming an ingredient or step in a recipe. Especially since it is possible for an author to make a mistake, I've seen that happen.

    • Dede I agree he/she didn't have to be an ass but at the same time people keep asking about those damn lemons lol.. The recipe clearly said juice of lemons. And there are no lemons in the blender those are the pears.. Look closer lol

    • ohyeslcan, the picture shows the entire lemon in the blender. No need to be a total bitch! I can't believe the ignorance of people these days. Thinking it's ok to be so rude just because you aren't face to face. You are what is wrong in this world. Past, present and future.

    • I can't believe the ignorance of people these days. Asking if the lemons are peeled before adding them? Are you serious? Can you not read the recipe first? An this is indicative of the future . . . shudder

    • There are lemons in the recipe, as well as pears. Genius. Also, if you read the recipe, it says the juice of 2 lemons.

    • In the photos it appears that the 2 lemons have been cut up and put in blender with peels/seeds included. Is this the correct way, or should I use the juice only?

    • This bugs me. Sure you could skip celery if you really hate it, but your answer — that you won't taste it — is sufficient. That's what she asked. I wouldn't be so cavalier about recommending you leave stuff out willy nilly, unless an allergy is involved. You've just recommended the recipe for all its natural goodness and health benefits, but then you immediately recommend she monkey with the formula even though "you won't taste it." Sure, it's "just one ingredient" so what harm could leaving it out be, but if celery serves a role in a drink you think is worth recommending, then let it serve that role rather than deciding it's not essential. Just try it, people! THEN decide what you need to leave out.
